My Logistical Nightmare

I’d like to tell you a story… which may or may not be true.

Last week, I got a text from my friend, Sarah:

“Hey, I’m supposed to pick up Karl from the airport tonight at 10:15, but I don’t think I can make it. Can you grab him for me?”

I checked the time—9:15 pm.

“Sure,” I said. “I can do that.”

A little over hour later, I’m pulling up to the first terminal, and I call Karl:

“Hey Karl, I’m here instead of Sarah. Where would you like me to pick you up?”

And Karl said, “Ohh… I’m sorry. Ian already picked me up, and he’s taking me home.”

I sat for a minute in my car, frustrated.

Due to some miscommunication, I got sent on a long night-time drive to pick up… nobody.

So I threw on some tunes and started making my way back.

Before long, I surprised myself with feelings of gratitude.

I couldn’t stop thinking: “My life used to be like this every day at my old job. I can’t believe I don’t have to make a living dealing with people like this.”
