Throw Marty’s Momma Under The Train

Couple years ago I met Martin at Affiliate Summit East.

We hit it off and stayed in touch ever since.

Several months ago the Earth swallowed him whole and he was nowhere to be found.

I finally decided to give Marty a call.

I could tell something was off as soon as I heard his voice.

You see, at the age of 27, he is financially supporting his mother.

She can’t work because she’s too old for that and so he has taken it upon himself to pay her bills so she doesn’t starve.

Here is this kid, not only making a living for himself but also helping his mother.

I told Marty I was proud of him and that he did the right thing.

“I realize that sounds cool to you. To tell you the truth, at first, I saw it as a duty – help my mother in a time of need. But how long will I have to do that? I work hard to make additional income for me and her. Instead of investing in my education, everything I earn is going to bills and other necessities. And the worst part? I already feel like an old man. My friends living their lives, going on vacations, buying new stuff for them and having fun. All while I sit in my house, thinking that the money I can give for a beer, are better spend somewhere else.

Again, I love my mother and I wouldn’t do otherwise.

But I don’t know if there is a solution down the road.”

Sucks…

I was hoping Martin was working from home full time when I first heard the news, and if that were the case, he couldn’t care less who’s bills he’s paying, that wouldn’t have made any difference to the amount of hours he puts into his business.

Why?

Because online you don’t get paid by the hour.

You create leveraged results.

So your online business pumps profits no matter how many hours you work.

But Martin wasn’t there yet.

He was still working a job and paying his mother’s bills forced overtime on him.

Sucks.

Obviously, we can’t blame Marty’s mom.

But damn it, it pisses me off that a nice guy like Marty (and many like him) has to give up on life because no job ever pays enough to support you when you’re too old, too tired and too unhealthy to keep working.

Just not fair.

But that’s the system that we live in.

And the question is:

Are you prepared? If something were to happen to you, what’s your backup plan? Having your beloved kid work extra hours to financially support you?

This could happen to you.

It happened to swarms of people.

You are not protected.

Unless you protect yourself.

How?

P.S. I nearly forgot.

There’s an even sadder part in the story.

His mother once told him “I am so sorry for being such a burden. I really wish I didn’t exist right now.”

Imagine what will be going through this woman’s head right now.

Don’t let this happen to you
